While XPression is an excellent system for real-time graphics in “live” or “live to tape” productions, it is also possible to export scenes from the XPression Sequencer as individual videos (or stills) for use on other systems. Using the video codecs, you provide and install on your XPression system, it is possible to export scenes as either .MOV or .AVI files, using a variety of codecs. For more answers, watch the video.

There is a misunderstanding that the only way to add materials to XPression is one-at-a-time, via the Material Manager. Did you know you can bring in a bunch of materials into the Material Manager all at once? Dragging them onto the Viewport, will add them to the existing scene, as well as place them onto a Quad. They also get added to the Material Manager using the file name they have in the local file system. Watch this and give it a try.

Some simple XPression scenes have a default duration, but it is possible to change the duration of pauses or the overall duration of a scene playing out in XPression Sequencer. Change the speed, duration or pause lengths with confidence, and look like a rock star.

XPression uses a native video codec for optimum performance at playout. When XPression is installed, the XPression Video Coder is also installed, giving the user a fast and easy way to flip video files into the XPression Video Codec. It is a pretty simple application which uses a Job List to convert videos into the XPression Video Codec.

Every once in a while, producers will provide video elements as a separate file for the RGB video and another for the Alpha video. To merge them together into a single 32-bit video, use the XPression Video Coder. Audio can also be added together if required.
