XPression 6.0 adds the ability to record baseband video within the XPression user interface. Operators can record videos and grab stills to add as either materials in their currently active project, or within their Clip Store database. This video also shows how to import videos, one at a time, that have already been converted to the XPression Video Codec and add them to the XPression Clips Clip Store without using the INcoder software.

Some features and options of XPression have minimum version requirements and may require the system is properly licensed to run the optional software. Even though it is possible to install the software, it will not run if the XPression system is not licensed for that option. This video shows you how to check these two items.

This video covers the installation of the software components of the XPression Clips option. There are three programs to install, assuming that XPression Studio version 6.0 or higher has been installed on the XPression Studio system: Clip Store, Media Control Gateway and INcoder.
The INcoder application should be installed on a separate computer in facilities that will be doing lots of video imports while also using their XPression Studio system in production. This video shows the installation of the INcoder software on the same system, to show the installation process, only; and should not be considered the optimum installation location.

Beginning with XPression 6.5, XPression Clips users can now select a group of items in the Clip Browser and modify the Recall IDs. This allows the user to add or change Recall IDs to a range of clips at a time. Simply selecting items by clicking on the first item using the mouse, holding the SHIFT key and then selecting additional items. Once that is done, Right-click with the mouse and access the Change RECALL ID function from the list. A dialog box will appear, allowing the user to set the first number in the range.

XPression Clips users, working in XPression 6.5 or higher, who access clips content randomly, using the Quick Find field can now set the Quick Search function to require an exact match for the input field. This can be set to the Clip Name, Recall ID or both fields. If a value is input, and there isn’t a match, the Clip Browser list will be empty. If the value matches a clip, that clip will be selected and ready for direct playout the current server channel.

In a busy control room, it can be difficult to keep track of what clips are queued on if it starts in black or uses a common countdown leader. Starting with XPression 6.5, there is now an option to display the clip name and the total running time of the clip as a slate. The slate will be presented if it is cued (and paused) on the output at the first frame. Triggering PLAY on that channel will remove the slate information and execute the play command.
